Below is a link to the agenda but the main item is regarding the MLGW budget which has 27.6 million in it for the next installment of 50,000 smart meters.

The simple points are these...
- We currently have a free opt out....MLGW would like to charge you to opt out. If we want to keep this they need to hear from you.
- Will ratepayers have to pay for the implementation of smart meters? The 1st 60,000 smart meters cost 10.5 million, now the next , 50,000 will cost 27.6 million. Will MLGW increase rates to pay this bill? I don't see how they couldn't. This is going to get more and more expensive as the implementation continues.
- People who have received the new smart meter are noticing their bills increasing. MLGW says this is because the old analog meter was not as precise and now that the new meter measures more accurately your usage, your bills are going to increase. That might be reason enough to keep your analog meter.
