Will Commissioner Basar resurrect his role as Darth Basar and vote along with 39 years a commissioner Walter Bailey to deny duly elected Chairman Ford his appointments for the various committees? Or will he vote the way he did at the committee meeting last Wednesday when he said " I don't know why people thought I wouldn't vote for these appointments. I was just doing a favor for a fellow commissioner"...yeah uhuh and that favor happened to be for 39 years a Commissioner Walter Bailey who, like Basar, had the case of sour grapes because neither one of them was elected chairman.
Will politics win the day or egotistical personalities bent on seeing these events through the prism of me, my and I? Inquiring minds want to know.
Commissioner Melvin Burgess was absent at the last meeting which denied the comeuppance that certain commissioners wanted to dole out. The vote went down 10 to 1 in favor of approval. You can guess that 39 years a commissioner couldn't bring himself to give Chairman Ford what he wanted. Hopefully Commissioner Basar will vote the way he did at the committee meeting and progress will be made towards getting on with the people's business. Sometime's these guys forget, that's what they were sent there to do...
I encourage all of you to show up and observe the meeting, or even better, show up and speak out. Your commissioners don't know what you are thinking if you don't tell them. Would you like Commissioner Basar to vote yes on the committee appointments? Call 901-222-1000 and tell him or any other commissioner you would like to, to vote yes on the chairman's appointments. You can also email them here...http://www.shelbycountytn.gov/index.aspx?NID=1209 It's always good to contact them too and thank them for voting yes and encouraging them to vote yes again on Monday. They need your support as well as holding them accountable.
The following is a link to the agenda...yes there is crack money to be doled out but due to time constraints, I haven' been able to deconstruct them.
