was a resolution of support for expanding Medicaid in Tn.
Republicans in Tn, including Gov. Haslam want to expand Medicaid. Never mind that Tn can't afford the burdens it already has, never mind that the crack money that will be used for this expansion will be gone in 4 years and the state will be stuck with paying for it, never mind that Tn is still reeling from the Tenncare debacle that we couldn't pay for...we must expand it! Why? I'm glad you asked...
Supposedly because due to Obamacare, rural hospitals are closing. This will send a lot of people from rural areas into Shelby County and other big cities to get healthcare which will then break our already overburdened budgets. The truth is, no matter how this plays out, Tn will lose....either now or in 4 years when the crack money runs out.
Tn is talking now about increasing pay for our teachers. That is a nice gesture and one I could support if we were't talking about expanding our budgets elsewhere.
We need to be looking at ways to reduce government programs, not expand them.
Please contact your commissioners and tell them what you think....either way....
